Recently I have a developed a bit of a thing for flamingoes in a #ihaveathingwithdoors or a #ihaveathingwithfloors kind of way.
I’d spotted hundreds when on holiday in South Africa just next to the side of the road standing in shallow waters (not quite the pigeons or seagulls of home). I thought they were beautiful. So when I spotted a ceramic dish painted with a flamingo at the V&A Waterfront I couldn’t resist it and, later when I was upgrading my stationery drawer, I also couldn’t resist the flamingoes of papier.com either (see below). Note to self: must work on willpower. I do love them though.
It turns out, I’m not the only one slightly obsessed. So, if you are looking for some pink flamingo inspiration for your wardrobe or home, look no further! I have done the leg work for you:
From left to right and top to bottom: Sophia Webster Amanda Dreamy Flamingo printed satin platform sandals ♥ Royalties Light Blue Flamingo Socks ♥ Whistles Flamingo Sweat ♥ ASOS Maternity Flamingo Pyjama Nightie ♥ Soludos Embroidered Flamingo Espadrilles ♥ Sophia Webster Flamingo Frill leather, satin and suede sandals ♥ Être Cécile Rendez-Vous Flamingo T-Shirt ♥ NARS Audacious Lipstick in Flamingo
The Soludos espadrilles are my favourite – cute and practical for the summer. Be warned though, apparently they come up very small. Whistles too has come up trumps with their sweatshirt but be quick it seems to be disappearing fast.
The ring dish from Gemma Orkin that started it all (similar can be found here):
And my new favourite stationery:
Head and shoulders above the rest on my wish list is this lamp by Rosanna Lonsdale. It is exquisite. It called The Pink Ladies. All her lamps are handblown and painted and decorated from inside the glass.
Above are also my top picks to add a touch of flamingo to your home and if you want to go really big and bold, well:
And, if you want something a little more moveable, frivolous and utterly impractical on a daily basis…
…you can thank me later from the pool!
If you’ve got a flamingo recommendation I would love to hear it! x
