Happiness Boosts

Sometimes a little pick me up, in the form of a little indulgence or a little extravagance, is just what I need to raise my happiness levels. Here are my current faves: Listening To: Pandolly Podcast The Times’ style columnist, Pandora Sykes, and Dolly Alderton have teamed up on this new podcast mulling over topics ranging from Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s split to drinking in Finland.they e got a great, fun repartee. Pampering with: Percy & Reed Firstly, a big hurrah for M&S’ beauty hall which, after closer inspection, really is quite something: Pixi, REN, Josh Wood, L’Occitane, NUXE, Neal’s Yard…I treated myself last week to Percy & Reed’s moisturising shampoo and conditioner after being aghast by how dry my hair was getting. It is a revelation. I should have known though, I have their wonder balm and it really lives up to its name, taming my, very naturally wavy/frizzy, mane. Reading: Fingers in The Sparkle Jar After listening to his fascinating Desert Island Discs, I cannot wait to read naturalist Chris Packham’s memoir. I finally picked …

A DRESS TO IMPRESS: FLOWERS & LACE

I LOVE DRESSES. I have no embarrassment in admitting that I own two pairs of jeans, perhaps, three. I own no trousers at all. Not one pair. Or leggings (except running leggings). It’s not actually one that I would have straightaway stopped at whilst scrolling through ASOS as it’s a little more patterned and busy than I tend to go for. But, as with most clothes, it’s amazing how different they look once on. The fabric is thick, the pleats are beautifully structured, the …

WAKE UP TO MAKE UP

That was a short, sharp shock. Several months ago after realising I’d had the same beauty routine for years and years (and years*) I googled “make up tutorial” and up popped Lisa Eldridge. I am always it seems last to the party as her total number of followers on Instagram exceeds 547,000 and after watching a few of her online make up tutorials I can see why. She is charming and I love her graceful, poised and natural presence. *read half my life So when it came to me making more of an effort with my everyday make-up hers was the first name to spring to mind. Her website is so easy to use. There are dozens of videos from fabulous party looks to what to do with skin suffering from PMS outbreaks. There is also a smattering of fantastic celebrity cameos; Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Alexa Chung, Laura Carmichael and Sophie Dahl (her eyes – amazing!) amongst others. I chose the Everyday Looks section of her videos (there’s also Party Looks and Basics – the latter I fear I …
